A Study on Practice of Breast feeding

Abstract
Purpose: This study was designed to evaluate the practice of breast feeding and to provide basic data for promoting nursing intervention strategies.

Method: The data were collected from June to July 2003 in Kwang ju, Korea. The subject consisted of 200 women with a child between 6 months and 36 months old. The collected data was analyzed by using the SPSS program with frequency.

Result: We could know that the reason why they chose breast feeding are nutritionally superiority mostly, attachment promotion with baby and good for rehabilitation after childbirth. The most influenced people who make them choose to nurse breast feeding are themselves mostly, husband and parents of her maiden home and medical people in order. And the reason they don't nurse breast feeding are shortage of breast milk, jobs and time to stop nursing in order. The people who have experienced in nursing breast feeding before leaving hospital are doubled than people who have no experience in nursing it, the time they start to nurse are 2-3 days, within 24 hours and within 3 hours or after 4 days after childbirth in order. When 1 week after childbirth, the ways of nursing are breast feeding mostly, bottle feeding and mixed feeding in order, at 4th week nursing breast feeding gets less, but mixed feeding gets over bottle feeding and a little rise. At 4 months after childbirth, nursing breast feeding is the same as mixed feeding and the former gets less but the latter gets a rise and bottle feeding too.
